About NEST

Saving House Sparrows, Protecting Biodiversity

NEST (Nature Environment Service Trust) is a Coimbatore-based environmental conservation organization founded in 2005, dedicated to protecting the House Sparrow (Passer domesticus), whose population is declining due to urbanization and habitat loss.

Our Mission : We strive to restore the House Sparrow population by creating awareness, providing safe nesting spaces, and promoting eco-friendly practices.

Our Initatives:

  • House Sparrow Conservation : Researching habitats, food sources, and threats to implement effective conservation strategies.

  • Sparrow-Friendly Awareness : Encouraging residents to provide food (Kurunai rice or fox millet) and water in small bowls to support the sparrows.

  • Sparrow Nesting Solutions : Installing specially designed breeding boxes to provide safe nesting spaces and prevent chick fatalities.

  • Wildlife Rehabilitation : Rescuing and treating injured birds and small reptiles before releasing them back into their natural habitat.

  • Tree Plantation Drives : Combatting climate change through mass tree plantation in schools, parks, and reserved forest areas.
