How you can identify a House Sparrow (Passer domesticus)

Physical Features:

Size : Small bird, about 14-16 cm (5.5-6.3 inches) long.

Body Shape : Stout body with a short, thick beak.

Coloration (Male) : Gray crown, chestnut-brown back with black streaks, black bib on the throat, and white cheeks.

Coloration (Female) : Dull brown overall with no black bib, no gray crown, and a lighter-colored belly.

Wings : Brown wings with two pale wing bars.

Beak : Thick and conical, yellowish in non-breeding season and black in breeding males.

Tail : Short and slightly rounded.

Behavior & Habitat:

Social Birds : Often found in flocks, especially near human habitation.

Chirping Sounds : Produces a continuous series of cheerful "chirp" or "cheep" sounds.

Habitat : Common in cities, towns, villages, and farmlands; often seen near houses and buildings.

Nesting: Builds nests in cavities, under eaves, or in crevices of buildings.
